Welcome Hotel SEO Executives...

Thank you for joining the Hotel SEO Executives Group on LinkedIn. In our first couple of months, over 100 people have signed up as members, reflecting the growing importance of SEO in the hotel industry. I would like to personally thank all of you for helping to build such a strong community. Membership is made up of hoteliers and SEO executives who are directly involved with Search Engine Optimization on a daily basis.

LinkedIn will continue to be one of our main channels for maintaining on-going communications. However, the core ‘professional networking/community’ part of the group is now at http://hotelseo.ning.com.

As you can see from my Blog below, our little social network has already caused an international stir. Within 24 hours of going live with this website, the United Arab Emirates chose to block us. This was brought to my attention when a hotelier at the Hyatt Dubai was prevented from joining HSE. Please read the Blog for more details.

We welcome comments and feedback, either by email or on the site itself. Indeed, we would go a step further and invite you to take control of the future development of the network, so please give us your thoughts on this.

Please feel free to refer others who you think might be qualified to join by having them contact Ron Callari directly, as this group is by invitation only (roncallari@ioptimizemarketing.com).

Thought I would share a recent post I did for my companies site about Google and whether there is a legitimate "Google Killer" out there - Google Killer

I'd be interested in any feedback anyone has.

Sherpa SEO Seminar

I sat in on a Marketing Sherpa seminar on SEO practices today. As usual the material was very good and would apply to general SEO and hotel specific. The data presented was developed through nearly 2,000 survey responses from SEO firms, consumer surveys, lab tests and partnered research, Sherpa Case Studies, and "Best Of" data from Partner Research Organizations.

The revealing points were:

49% of budgets were "inflexible" - meaning they were set and not adjustable to demand even if sales were… Continue

Has Brand a place in a World of SEO?

In a world where search dominates product selection or product research, does brand still have a place? Has google thought us not to be brand loyal any more, considering that once we search on the product type we are then looking at the most relevant results that are applicable, but that result is based on product information and not on brand awareness. Typically in talking with clients I know their audeince is reached by a new need rather than by recognition.

SEO Questions as Food for Thought

This is my first post here and in order to get the juices flowing I am going to throw out questions in hopes of generating thought provoking conversations.

How do you define success?

What success measurement tools do you use?

What do you need more of?

What type of actionable marketing data do you review and analyze?
